Friends of Saints Foundation launched
Saints Foundation officially launched Friends of Saints Foundation on Friday 15th June, with an event at St Mary’s Stadium attended by over 20 of the local businesses that have pledged their support to the charity.
Saints Foundation has traditionally held strong connections with local businesses, hence the Friends of Saints Foundation programme has worked to create a network of likeminded business patrons all of which are keen advocates of the charities work in supporting individuals in need within our local community.
The launch event began with an update from Greg Baker, Head of Saints Foundation, about the impact that Saints Foundation are making in Southampton and surrounding area. He stated “To have the support of local businesses is so vital for Saints Foundation and gives us a further connection to the community which we work to support.”
The Patrons had the opportunity to take part in an exercise session with special guests from the Generation Gains programme. This programme runs free exercise sessions at various community-based locations within Southampton offering potentially isolated adults aged 65 and over, a place to socialise and keep mobile. This proved to be a great way of highlighting one element of the support that we provide.
Nick Butt from Moores Cleaning commented, “[it was a] great idea to mix us with the beneficiaries…it gave us a really useful and rewarding insight into how the support we give is used”.
The event concluded with the unveiling of the Friends of Saints Foundation Wall, located on the external wall of the Chapel Stand at St Mary’s Stadium. The Patrons stood proudly next to their company name, holding their certificate of membership.
The Friends of Saints Foundation will meet again in September to learn more about the work of Saints Foundation and continue to forge relationships with their fellow supporters.
