Male Futsal & Education Scholarship
Set up in 2011, the Saints Foundation Futsal and Education Scholarship is open to males aged between 16-18 years of age, the scholarship offers Further education to those wishing to study on a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Sport; a practical course that combines outstanding classroom based teaching with the chance to learn and play Futsal and represent Saints- wearing the full Saints kit- in fortnightly fixtures in The Football League Trust National Futsal League held at Swindon Futsal Arena.
The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Development) is a specialist work related course covering the core elements of sporting performance and excellence. As part of the study programme, students are required to complete work experience in a variety of sport’s settings, including a placement with the Saints Foundation in coaching, refereeing and officiating roles. There will also be opportunities to achieve coaching awards, such as the Beginners Guide to Futsal and the FA Level 1 Coaching Qualification.
In addition, students will receive 8-10 hours of top class Futsal coaching per week, delivered by Saints Foundation Coaches.
The BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Sport consists of 19 units:

- Sports Injuries
- Analysis of Sports Performance
- Talent Identification and Development in Sport
- Work Experience in Sport
- Rules, Regulations and Officiating in Sport
- Organising Sports Events.
Teaching and Learning involves a mix of classroom-based lectures, independent study and group discussions in the Education at St Mary’s Stadium. All units are assessed through assignments which are submitted via the interactive learning platform. Assignments are structured in a variety of different formats, including: written reports, group tasks, interviews, presentations, work experience, time constrained assessments and practical coaching tasks.
Practical sports sessions, the application of sporting theories and training sessions are taught off-site at an external venue in the city.
Saints Foundation is now looking to recruit a maximum of 32 students for our next intake, with teaching commencing in September 2016.
