Female Futsal & Education Scholarship
Following the success of the The Saints Foundation Futsal and Education Scholarship scholarship, which has been running since since 2011 with male cohorts; an all female cohort was developed in 2015. The programme has proven to be a fantastic opportunity for girls, aged between 16-18 years of age, to study on a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Sport (Performance and Development) which is widely recognised by Universities. This course is suitable for those wishing to progress into Higher Education to study sport related degrees, such as: Sports Science, Sports Development, Football Studies; or Football Studies with Business. The course particularly suits students wanting to enter employment in the sport and active leisure sector as sports coaches, instructors and leaders
The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Development) is a specialist work related course covering the core elements of sporting performance and excellence. As part of the study programme, students are required to complete work experience in a variety of sports settings, including a placement with the Saints Foundation- in coaching, refereeing and officiating roles. There will also be opportunities to achieve coaching awards, such as the Beginners Guide to Futsal, the FA Level 1 Coaching Qualification in Futsal and the FA Level 2 Football Coaching Qualification.
In addition, students will receive 8-10 hours of top class Futsal coaching per week, delivered by Saints Foundation Coaches. They will represent Saints – wearing the full Saints kit- in fortnightly fixtures in the EFL Trust Ladies Divison, in The Football League Trust National Futsal League held at Birminham Futsal Arena.

- Talent Identification and Development in Sport
- Work Experience in Sport
- Rules, Regulations and Officiating in Sport
- Organising Sports Events.
Teaching and Learning involves a mixture of classroom-based lectures and independent study in the Education Centre at St Mary’s Stadium. All units are assessed through assignments, which are submitted via the interactive learning platform. Assignments are structured in a variety of different formats, including: written reports, group tasks, interviews, presentations, work experience, time constrained assessments and practical coaching tasks.
Practical sports sessions, the application of sporting theories and training sessions are taught off-site at an external venue in the city.
Saints Foundation is now looking to recruit a maximum of 16 students for our next intake, with teaching commencing in September 2016.
