Saints Foundation host literacy event at St Mary’s
Saints Foundation recently welcomed 120 primary school pupils to St Mary’s to participate in a special literacy event.
As part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme, pupils from 12 local schools were invited to get involved in an engaging and creative day of workshops at the home of Southampton FC.
The pupils were treated to an extended stadium tour, where they had to complete a variety of different creative writing challenges, all based on different football scenarios.
In their teams they had to complete challenges such as writing a motivating half-time team talk or talking to the press after the game, all with the goal of developing their own literacy skills.
As part of the afternoon, author Dan Freedman was also on hand to deliver an inspiring workshop for the pupils.
