Youth Voice take over at St Mary’s

St Mary’s Stadium was the venue for two youth-based events on Thursday night, both set up by Saints Foundation to help give young people a bigger voice in the local community.

Following on from last weeks secondary schools Youth Forum, last night it was the turn of five local primary schools to engage with the Southampton City Council initiative, taking on a variety of activities and challenges facilitated by the Youth Forum Champion’s.

Across from the Youth Forum, the Terry Paine suite played host to our Kicks Team Talk launch.

Representatives from all six of our Community Champion schools, plus those from Fleming Park, attended the event to kick start a process which will eventually see one student from each school make up a Team Talk Cabinet.

The participants used the opening session to work on team building exercises which were all focused around the Club themes of Respect, Unity, Accountability, Aspiration and Creativity, along with the theme of Inclusion, something that is hugely important to every aspect of community work.

Saints Foundation are committed to providing opportunities to every young person in the local community, and through initiatives such as Kicks Team Talk and Youth Forum Southampton, young people from across the city are able to make a positive impact for themselves and their peers.
